Central York used two key factors to its advantage on Friday evening against Dover.

The scoreboard and turnovers.

The Panthers got up early on a run-first offense and took advantage of three fumbles by the Eagles in holding on for a wild 41-27 win at Dover Area High School.

"We've had turnovers every week," Dover coach Eric Lam said. "When you do that against a good ballclub, they are going to kick your butt.

"We want to be physical and stay in games. Hopefully, at the end, we can make a play or two to pull them out. Unfortunately, we had too many turnovers."

Central York (3-2) saw a two-touchdown halftime lead clipped in half with 4:34 left in the third quarter as Dover quarterback Logan Ambrose scored his second touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run.

Dover (3-2) had four possessions from that point on but fumbled once and punted the ball away three other times.

Panthers running back Breaun Randle iced the game with 1:49 remaining when he raced 30 yards for his second touchdown of the game.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Randle, the sixth-leading rusher in the YAIAA, finished the game with 217 yards on 26 carries. He also scored on a 24-yard run in the second quarter and added one reception for 48 yards.

"He runs with attitude," Central York coach Brad Livingston said. "He has a big heart and plays hard. When he does get tired, he has the ability to reach down and find a bit more."

Senior quarterback Dylan Hose added 144 yards in the air and found Zach Emswiler with a touchdown pass in the first quarter and 13-yard score to Max Haldeman in the second quarter.

"Dylan had a good game," Livingston said. "We trust it in his hands."

Central York looked like it was firing on all cylinders in the first half as the Dover defense could not stop the Panthers from scoring on each of their first four possessions.

The Panthers defense also was looking sharp as it held the No. 4 running offense in the YAIAA to 101 first-half yards on the ground.

"It's clear they don't really like to pass or want to pass," Livingston said. "They are very successful running the football, so what you hope to do is put them behind in down and distance situations and maybe force them to throw.

"We did a pretty good job for part of the night, but not the whole night. We allowed too many big plays."

Dover crept back into the game in the second half as Central York managed six less first downs, 27 fewer rushing yards and 118 less passing yards in the second half.

Ambrose led Dover with 105 rushing yards on 10 carries while 5-11 junior Isaiah Green, who entered the game as the 11th leading rusher in the YAIAA, produced 93 yards on 14 carries.

"People may doubt him, but Logan is one heck of a quarterback," Lam said. "He made a heck of a run in the third quarter and got us back into the game."

Senior defensive lineman Brian Lehman had two sacks on defense for the Eagles.

"He's always been a linebacker type, but we've moved him down front," Lam said. "Every week you see him growing into that role. It is fun to see."

Junior defensive lineman Levi Murphy also had a fourth-quarter interception, and junior Jake McLean returned a kickoff 95 yards for a second-quarter touchdown for Dover.
