The undefeated Eastern York boys' basketball team will have plenty at stake when it heads to Giant Center for tonight's District 3 Class AAA quarterfinal against Susquehanna Township.

For star junior Andrew Nicholas, the night could take on a personal significance, as well.

The 6-foot-6 forward is five points away from passing Jon Raab as Eastern York's all-time leading scorer. Raab, who graduated in 1988, finished his career with 1,680 points.

It would be hard to imagine Nicholas not passing that milestone when top-seeded Eastern (25-0) plays the ninth-seeded Indians at 8 p.m. in Hershey. He's averaging 20.2 points per game this year.

The scary part?

"Obviously, he has a year to go," Eastern coach Larry Fisher said. "That 1,680 mark has been there for a long time, and it was done by a great player."

Nicholas could eventually challenge Jacob Iati's all-time league scoring record. Iati, a former York Catholic standout, graduated in 2008 with 2,388 career points.

Nicholas has been bothered lately by a right thigh injury, which he suffered Saturday during the Golden Knights' YAIAA championship game victory against William Penn.

The forward still scored 18 points in Eastern's first-round district victory against Wyomissing on Tuesday, despite the achy leg and a bout of dehydration, Fisher said.

The Eastern coach said Nicholas should be close to 100 percent for tonight's clash with the Indians.

"Judging by the way he shot today in practice and the way he's been moving," Fisher said. "It's a little stiff getting started, but once he gets moving it should be OK."

Susquehanna Township's 14-8 record might not be awe-inspiring, but the Indians are a traditionally strong program: They've won two of the last four district titles.

Township also had to slog through a laborious, Mid-Penn schedule this season.

"They can be as good as any team we played all year," Fisher said. "I think they had a few injuries, they had some guys out for a while. But their guards penetrate really well. They shoot well. Look to run the break. They're good that way."
