ENOLA -- An insurance run scored in the top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference for Mechanicsburg.

The Cardinals took a 3-1 lead with that run and held off Enola 3-2 in the first game of their best-of-five West Shore Twilight Baseball League semifinal playoff series on Thursday. The teams play at Mechanicsburg tonight at 5:45.

Casey Cooper belted a triple off Nick Pisani to lead off the seventh for the Cardinals (26-12) and scored one out later on a base hit by Teed Wertz.

In the bottom of the inning, Kenny Glass singled and went to second on an overthrow, then scored on a double by Tom Semanek. But Mechanicsburg pitcher Eric Weltmer bore down and got the last three outs on a grounder, strikeout and fly ball.

Ryan Murray was 3-for-4 for the Cardinals and Wertz was 2-for-4.
